Running free, feeling great – the story of Jog Derbyshire, Kedleston Hall and Derbyshire MIND

Imagine jogging through the trees, with the wind in your hair, a smile on your face and surrounded by nature. You’re jogging simply for the fun of jogging, with no competition against anyone else. Sounds like the perfect recipe for feeling great, doesn’t it?

That’s why the partnership between Jog Derbyshire, Derbyshire MIND and the National Trust in creating the Kedleston Hall Trails has proven so successful.

Last month saw the handover of a £1,000 cheque to Derbyshire MIND – the culmination of a year of working together on the monthly event. For not only are the people attending getting so much out of it, but their entry fee for the jog of just £2 is a worthy contribution to the work of the local charity.

The money will go towards the support of our services and the Enjoying Derbyshire Wellbeing Project. Enjoying Derbyshire

We are pleased to announce that we have a new logo for Enjoying Derbyshire and our sincere thanks to Lubrizol for developing this for us. The logo is intended to represent our intention to develop a wellbeing programme of activities which will take place across the County of Derbyshire and in Derby to complement our walking programme. We look forward to sharing news of this programme and up and coming events as soon as we can so please do watch this space!

A big thank you to the Freemasons and Weleda

Thanks to the Freemasons and Weleda we have been able to do yet another run of Living Advent donations to the mental health crisis teams. The Freemason Lodge in Sheffield had collected several boxes of toiletries and dropped them off to us just before Christmas.  Weleda, as part of their Kindness at Christmas campaign, donated some products, thanks to the support of Claire Hollinghurst from Lubrizol for this involvement

Congratulations Jess

Congratulations to Jess Hutton and all who held a successful Charity Music Concert on the 18th November. They raised a staggering £2,000 to support Derbyshire Mind and SOBS – thank you to all who took part

Derby County Community Trust (DCCT) in partnership with African Adventures

Derby County Community Trust (DCCT) in partnership with African Adventures has taken a group of volunteers over to Kenya to work with children in a deprived area of Nakuru, using the power of sport to enthuse them. Volunteers also get involved in building projects to help improve facilities for the young people.

Derby Homes is one of the charities supporting Derbyshire Mind and one of their members of staff, Leon Taylor is taking part in this as a volunteer. All volunteers must raise funding for the trip, which next year is in the region of £2500. Part of the monies raised goes directly to a project in Kenya and another sum to DCCT’s wonderful Health Programmes which are delivered locally in Derbyshire.
Leon is currently auctioning off a signed England Shirt to towards the fundraising target.
