Herbs for Health, Buxton

A practical and fun course, learning how to safely harvest, dry and use the medical herbs around us; building your confidence to benefit from their medical properties safely.

Take steps towards feeling more positive through joining this small, friendly group and learning new skills. You will make small pots of creams and oils which you can take home or give as gifts.

Kedleston Hall Trails with Jog Derbyshire (5k or 10k routes)

Jog Derbyshire and Kedleston Hall host a fun and friendly monthly trail run (or jog or walk) around the beautiful Kedleston Estate to raise money for Derbyshire Mind whilst promoting the benefits of outdoor exercise.

For £2 entry you can sign up to do a 5K or 10K route. Registration starts opens from 8:30am and includes a group warm-up before the 10K set off first at 9:00am.

The route starts off with an uphill which allows regular runners a challenge whilst enabling walkers to enjoy the scenery more! Dogs are welcome too.

At the end you can collect your 20% off voucher for the café and relax with other participants.

This event is run by volunteers who take registration, set up markers for the route and lead the way. If you would like to volunteer to help please contact Jog Derbyshire for more information.

Please be aware that if the main entrance gates are closed, an alternate entrance to Kedleston hall is available off Mercaston Lane.

Tai Chi and Qigong for Health, Wellbeing and Relaxation, Derby

Explore and experience a range of health, wellbeing and relaxation exercises and methods tailored to improving mental wellbeing.

You will join a small, friendly group supported by two qualified staff members. During this course you will learn what core strength is and through gentle exercises learn how to develop your strength and flexibility. Participation is voluntary and exercises are tailored to the abilities of the group. No previous experience is required.

This course is designed and delivered by Derby Adult Learning Service in partnership with Derbyshire Mind.

Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear.

Rebuild and Relax – Matlock

You will develop helpful strategies including communication techniques, decision-making and resilience. Your tutor will support you to develop your confidence and self-esteem, making you better able to relax and take on life.

You will join a small, friendly and supportive group, with support from a tutor who will support you and give you feedback to help you asses your own progress.

Beat the Winter Blues – Glossop

Mindful Crafts at Quad – Spring 2019


Mindful Crafts is a creative group taking place 1-3pm on the second Monday of each month during Spring 2019 at Quad, on the Market Place, Derby.

Each month there will be a different theme. All workshops will be delivered in a relaxed and supportive environment, suitable for adults to learn new skills whilst improving confidence and self esteem.

These workshops are free to attend and all materials are provided on the day, just bring yourself! You are welcome to bring a bottle of water with you, with other refreshments are available from the on-site coffee shop.

What can I expect from the session?

Each session is set out to be welcoming and supportive, with different themes. If you’re not sure about trying something out, please ask a member of staff for more information about what it is to help you decide what you would like to participate in.


Please be aware that the January session will take place in a room upstairs, rather than the usual room downstairs. Lifts are available.

Ryan Puts Mind Over Matter



Ryan Cooper is cycling 1066 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money for mental health charity Derbyshire Mind. 

Ryan, 38, of Duffield, has planned his own route, which he will complete in 11 stages averaging 97 miles a day. He said: “I will be cycling for up to 10 hours a day, passing through some of the most scenic countryside Britain has to offer, including iconic bridge crossings, mountain passes and historic locations along the way.”

Ryan will be supported throughout the ride by mum Monica and brother Gavin, who will be completing the journey alongside him in the ‘TEAM ry support car’, which has been designed and produced free of charge by OMG Signs of Little Eaton.

Monthly Kedleston Hall 5k or 10k Trail

Kedleston Trails: Sunday 26th August 2018
Registration from 8:30am, race starts 9:00am

Join us for a friendly jog or walk around the beautiful Kedleston Hall estate. This isn’t a competitive race and suitable for beginners and those looking for a challenge can still push themselves on the longer route. The day starts with registration and warm up, and ends with a 20% discount voucher for the café for the chance to chat with fellow participants – yum!

This monthly event is organised by Jog Derbyshire and managed by volunteers. Dogs welcome. Parking for the race is free as it is before the Hall opens to visitors. To find out more about jogging or how to get started click here.

Mindfulness Workshop in Ripley – Saturday 18th August

Find out more about Mindfulness and give it a go in this free taster session led by a Derbyshire Mind staff member with three years’ experience of hosting a group and delivering taster sessions.


The total session will last up to two hours but will include three different basic mindfulness practices to help you explore mindfulness and find out what works best for you. Participation in the practices is by choice and you can opt out at any time.


The workshop will start with an introduction to help you decide which parts of the morning you would like to participate in, and there be breaks between practices and chances to discuss every aspect of the practices being offered. There will also be a refreshment and comfort break.


As the practices involve staying with what arises, mindfulness can feel challenging, so please get in touch if you have any questions before you come along.

You are still welcome to join us if you haven’t booked in advance and we will ask you to complete the registration form before starting.

How much is it?
It’s free, yay! We would like as many people as possible to be able to be able to join us as we believe that wellbeing is for everyone.

Do I need to bring anything?
No, just bring yourself

What should I wear?
As long as you’re comfortable it doesn’t really matter.
You will be invited to take you shoes off as part of the practice if you would like to. This is voluntary and not essential.

What if I’m late to the start of the workshop?
If you are joining us after we start, we simply ask that you take a seat to the side and complete a registration form if you have not already done so and join in the next practice.

I’m not very flexible, does that matter?
Yoga body not required as chairs are available.

Do I need to be religious or have a faith?
No, whilst mindfulness and meditation have their roots in Buddhism, this is not a religious practice and can be used as an everyday tool for grounding.

Is this session open to anyone?
All Enjoying Derbyshire workshops and events are open to adults over the age of 18.

I’m not sure if this right for me or if it will trigger me, what can I do?
It can be challenging to be with your own thoughts and there is always the option to opt-out of the different practices or head to a quiet space away from the group.
One of the questions on the registration form is an opportunity for you to make the facilitator aware of anything you might want us to know or could find difficult.
